“It’s Not Just About Going - It’s Knowing We Are Sent”

FOCUS

“Christian leaders often motivate others to talk about Jesus by appealing to guilt, duty, or even shame. I endured many sermons that told me I should share my faith, and I would if only I loved Jesus more. I left these messages feeling like a failure. And I didn’t feel closer to Jesus or inspired to talk about him.”

So says Heather Holleman in a great book called, “Sent: Living a Life that Invites Others to Jesus.” The core concepts from Gods Word in it are the basis for this message today. While both Christians & non-Christians may share anxiety about evangelism, as Christians that needn’t be if we get these truths.

Knowing We Are Sent by God …

1. gives added purpose, meaning & confidence to our witness.

What we’re here to do precedes who we are & how we’re made.

John 20:21 / 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

2. affirms the reality that God is at work in us & others.

Whenever a sent one connects with a lost one, God is working in them both.

John 12:32-33 Luke 19:10 & 24:48-49 (Act:s 1:1-10 & 2:1-4) Luke 5:1-11

Making It Real

1] Have you heard God tell you that you are His sent one?

2] Will you seek to see those you know & encounter who are currently

not yet sent ones too as ones He is seeking to save through you?

Action Step

Ask God to give you His heart & His eyes for those who are not yet His. Pray

specifically for 5 people in your life this coming week who are currently not yet His.
